Wilmington, DE – Margaret Eloise (Keene) Wise Davis, 92, died peacefully Monday, September 3, 2018, at home surrounded by her family’s love.
She leaves behind her three daughters – Marlynn Goodness of Rancho Cordova, CA, Lori (David) Good of Collierville, TN, and Cheryl (Marcus) Stein of Wilmington, DE; her grandchildren Evan (Sarah) Goodness, Kiya Stahl and Taylor Stein; and her great grandchildren Andrew, Isobella and James Goodness.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents Katherine (Gilbert) and Samuel Keene; her brothers Robert, William, and Kenneth; her husbands Nelson Edwin Wise, Jr. and William H. Davis; and her grandson Ryan S. Goodness.
Born August 17, 1926, in Akron, OH, she moved to southern California after her marriage to Nelson Wise where she studied at USC and worked in the school’s Athletic Department. She subsequently worked at Aerojet General in California until the family moved to Wilmington, DE in 1971. Margaret then became the Executive Director of the Delaware Association of Professional Engineers (DAPE), a position she retired from in 1998. She married William Davis in 1993.
In addition to spoiling her family, Margaret loved to read, play word games, and feed everyone who stopped by her home. Sunday dinners were known for their levity and leftovers. She was known for her love of candy, her wry sense of humor and her tiny stature that held an enormous heart.
Memorial services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, September 13, 2018, at Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington. The family will receive friends Thursday, September 13th from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Margaret will be cremated and her ashes, along with those of her husband Bill, will be scattered in a private ceremony at Dana Point, CA per their wishes.
