Joyce K. Hartnett

Age 84, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully at Christiana Hospital on Thursday, August 2, 2018 surrounded by her family.

Born in Wilmington, Joyce was the daughter of the late Darlington and Dorothy Knotts. She was a graduate of Brown Vo-Tech. She worked as a secretary at various locations, however, mostly Sears and the rental office of Sandalwood Apartments. She was an avid reader, especially of the Bible, a member of AARP, and a former member of Faith Baptist Church. Her favorite charity was the American Red Cross. Her son, James D. Walls, predeceased her.

Joyce will be dearly missed by her husband of 31 years, James Hartnett; her sons, Mark Walls (Stephanie Koronik) and John Walls (Connie) of Hockessin; two daughters; six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister, Janice Cole of Naples, FL; her brother, George Knotts (Kathy) of Wilmington; and two other brothers.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 8th at 11:30 AM at Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington where friends and family are invited to call after 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Red Cross at or American Red Cross, PO Box 37839, Boone, IA 50037-0839.
